First impressions

The warm, friendly and professional staff are fantastic from the moment we check in. The hotel bikes line the path and the first glimpse of tranquil oasis that awaits, all instant signals that a relaxing luxurious break awaits you.

The room

The Studio Sanctuary is more than a room, it’s an adult only sanctuary curated for the discerning traveller. From the moment you step inside, guests are immediately enveloped in an atmosphere of serenity. While the four-poster bed is the undisputed centrepiece, the ensuite is also a showstopper. This magnificent freestanding stone bath is complimented by a lavish rain shower and designer amenities.

Top suite

The Bower Cottage is a classic country home that sleeps up to ten guests, nestled in complete privacy within The Bower’s lush tropical landscape. Though it’s the original 100-year-old dwelling, any hint of tradition fades as you step through the door into a sophisticated five-bedroom retreat, where contemporary luxury meets timeless character. Each of the five spacious bedrooms (three with ensuites) flows seamlessly into open-plan living spaces and a generous deck framed by verdant gardens. Adding to its appeal, The Cottage features an exclusive mineral cedar hot tub, a decadent wellness indulgence and the perfect spot to sit back, relax and exhale.

I wish I could take home…

If only the property could put their overall aesthetic into a gift bag. The moody, refined and textural palette achieves a high-end atmosphere that I would love to replicate at home.

The on-site hotel spa offers a holistic approach to wellness with soothing massages, invigorating facials and indulgent treatments.

Staying in

The Bower Byron Bay is an elegant and private sanctuary that you won’t want to leave. The heated magnesium pool and tranquil spa create an environment you can immerse yourself in day and night. It’s also located right next door to The General Store Cafe, which servea the most amazing breakfast options.

Stepping out

The Bower Byron Bay is strategically situated within walking distance of the amazing Jonson Lane restaurant precinct. A stay wouldn’t be complete without a reservation at both Light Years and Pixie. Light Years is known for its sensational modern Asian cuisine and Pixie for its unique coastal, Italian-style flavors.

The accolades

A key feature of this property is the award winning heated circular magnesium pool that’s “made for Instagram”, surrounded by lush tropical gardens and providing a serene place to relax – and we loved the poolside cocktail service.

Celebrity sightings

While this retreat is a known favorite for high-profile visitors to Byron Bay, The Bower maintains a discreet approach to its guest list. However, The Bower’s style of secluded, high–end luxury makes it a very attractive option for them. Though, we did have the honour of meeting Pat Rafter at The General Store Cafe.

Insider’s tips

No two Bower Byron Bay accommodation options are exactly the same. Rather, they offer a unique range of room types, all gorgeously decorated in The Bower’s eclectic style. So, we would suggest checking them all out online before selecting the most suitable. Byron Bay is always busy, so it’s a good idea to ask the staff to secure you some dinner reservations in advance upon booking.
