HX is the most trusted name in Antarctic exploration, with more guests choosing to discover the Seventh Continent with HX than any other expedition company.
Since 1896, HX Expeditions has been redefining what it means to explore the polar regions. Born during the golden age of Arctic discovery, they have taken generations of modern explorers beyond the horizon, across towering ice fields, remote islands, and into the pristine heart of Antarctica and the Arctic.
Why HX Leads in Antarctica
Every season, HX takes guests deeper into the Antarctic wilderness than anyone else. Led by the most experienced Expedition Teams, backed by science, and guided by purpose. As an early member of IAATO (International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators), HX has set the gold standard for sustainable and safe Antarctic travel. With exclusive access to a pre-departure learning course from the University of Tasmania’s Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, you will arrive prepared, engaged, and ready to immerse yourself in one of Earth’s last truly wild frontiers. From polar science lectures to hands-on citizen science projects onboard, voyages are as enriching as they are exhilarating.

Antarctica’s largest kayaking and camping program
Launching in October 2025, HX is proud to unveil the largest and most diverse kayaking and camping program ever offered in Antarctica—an expansion that brings more guests closer to the White Continent than ever before.
Whether you’re dreaming of paddling past ancient glaciers or sleeping beneath a sky of stars, the 2025/26 season opens these extraordinary experiences to more adventurers—with 188% more kayaking capacity and double the camping spots, now accommodating up to 60 guests per night.
This reimagined program includes:
- Two kayaking options – solo, self-guided Discovery Kayaks or guided Sea Explorer Kayaks
- Two camping styles – traditional tents or low-impact bivvy bags for a true explorer feel
- Solo traveller access – no partner required for any activity
- First-come, first-served sign-ups onboard – replacing the previous lottery system
“We’re not just expanding capacity—we’re transforming the guest experience,” says Karin Strand, VP of Expeditions Development. “It’s about delivering these once-in-a-lifetime moments in a way that’s accessible, responsible, and unforgettable.”
