For travellers who seek the finest that the world has to offer

White Desert Antarctica is the world’s most remote luxury camp

Landing on the seventh continent in a private jet is just the beginning of a life-changing experience with White Desert Antarctica.

Antarctica is characterised by great white expanses, pristine vistas, dramatic mountain ranges and unique wildlife encounters. White Desert has taken the hardship out of exploration and transformed the isolated beauty of Antarctica into an exclusive backdrop for adventure.

The White Desert experience

The adventure begins in Cape Town, South Africa, where a private jet will transport you to Antarctica. Unlike other travel options, you will bypass the notoriously unpredictable seas of the Drake Passage, ensuring you are refreshed and well to explore upon your arrival.

Staying at White Desert’s camps

Over the course of a year, a total of 250 guests journey to Antarctica with the White Desert’s two luxury camps, Whichaway and Echo, offering opulent accommodation complete with saunas, libraries and gourmet dining.

Whichaway

White Desert’s flagship camp Whichaway is located along the shores of the freshwater lakes of the Schirmacher Oasis. Encircled by an enourmous cliff of iridescent blue ice are six heated polar pods. They have a communal lounge, library and dining area as well as a Canadian cedar sauna that offers the perfect space to retreat from the elements and take in amazing views.

Echo

Spires of rock pierce the glacial landscape, towering kilometres straight into the air; surrounded by some of the planet’s most spectacular scenery, Echo’s distinctive ‘Sky Pods look more suited to a colony on Mars. Each of the six bedrooms are equipped with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, connecting you to the lunar landscape outside.

The ‘Cosmos’, is White Desert’s central hub comprising lounge, library and dining and shower rooms – offers guests a chance to savour sophisticated yet unpretentious meals, connect with the earthly moonscape views in all directions or  lose oneself within the infinite space of an Anthony James art installation.

Exploring Antarctica with White Desert

When not indulging in the camp’s offerings, guests can embark on adventures with expert guides to take in the breathtaking landscapes that can only be found in Antarctica. Cross off bucket list adventures like visiting the South Pole (something less than 500 people do each year), going ice climbing, hiking over ice waves and coming face-to-face with 28,000 emperor penguins.
